Vintage Valle Music held on the 3rd Sunday of June, July, and August each year

Vintage Valle Music program for Summer 2020 is canceled.  Uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 makes it too difficult to plan how to hold these events safely.  With deep regret, I spoke with representatives of each of the groups who were planning to participate this summer, and each shares our concerns for the welfare of all involved.  On a positive note, all of them hope that we will all be able to get together again next year.
Most of the artists with whom I spoke have already been or expect to be receiving cancellations for other events scheduled for this summer.  While none of them depend on those venues for their primary livelihood, that extra “pocket money” will be missed, and more importantly, the opportunities for creative outlets will be sorely missed.  Some of the musicians are putting expressions of their talents on video.  When I run across them, I share them on Facebook.  I urge you to watch for these little gems and share them with your friends, thereby keeping alive the gift of music with which we are so greatly blessed here in the High Country.

Currently, “out there” is this inspiration, “Tonight,” that came to Patrick of the Kay and Patrick Crouch duo last week: https://www.facebook.com/patrick.crouch.37/videos/3047187305340366/UzpfSTEwMDAwMTQ3Mzc5MDQxNjozMDYwNjExMjk0OTk0MTQ6MTA6MDoxNTkwOTk0Nzk5OjMzOTgwNzc2NzEwMjMzNTA3MjI/

Sarah and Mark McGuire sang this for us yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch…

Michael Salley of The Moravian Band is producing his one-man band/chorus each week with such music as the most appropriate “How Can I Keep from Singing”: https://www.youtube.com/watch…

Creatively, Doris Bazzini Crothers of Folk & Dagger shares her take on our shared crisis in “To the Mountain”: https://www.youtube.com/watch…

While I haven’t seen anything from The Threshold Singers, I’ve been enjoying weekly musical offerings from St. Luke’s choir, from which most of the Singers come: https://www.youtube.com/watch…

Here’s what The Burnett Sisters did to compensate for a recent cancellation: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/…. They will be livestreaming on June 5th from Ole Smoky Distillery at 8 p.m. Go to Ole Smoky Distillery FB page at that time to click on the livestream. The Sisters have a new CD, Duo, and appear with Collen Ray in a video: https://www.burnettsistersband.com/videos Buy the CD at www.burnettsistersband.com/shop

It would be great, also, to hear some music from The Dollar Brothers and The Junaluska Gospel Choir as the summer rolls along. Please, don’t forget the community groups that we try to help each summer. When you have an opportunity, as you are able, reach out and offer some assistance to these folks:

May you all have a good summer and year to come.  I pray that you stay well, that you help your neighbors, and that you enjoy lots ‘n lots of great music.  Until next summer, I wish you all Godspeed.  Please, stay in touch.
“Make a joyful noise…,”

“My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. ”  Psalm 57:7

We are aiming to accomplish this by distributing food in the Western side of Watauga County where people do not have the means to access grocery stores or purchase adequate food with proper nutrients.

Suggested donations currently dated, non-perishable food.  The most pressing need is:
