Currently, “out there” is this inspiration, “Tonight,” that came to Patrick of the Kay and Patrick Crouch duo last week: https://www.facebook.com/patrick.crouch.37/videos/3047187305340366/UzpfSTEwMDAwMTQ3Mzc5MDQxNjozMDYwNjExMjk0OTk0MTQ6MTA6MDoxNTkwOTk0Nzk5OjMzOTgwNzc2NzEwMjMzNTA3MjI/
Sarah and Mark McGuire sang this for us yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
Michael Salley of The Moravian Band is producing his one-man band/chorus each week with such music as the most appropriate “How Can I Keep from Singing”: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
Creatively, Doris Bazzini Crothers of Folk & Dagger shares her take on our shared crisis in “To the Mountain”: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
While I haven’t seen anything from The Threshold Singers, I’ve been enjoying weekly musical offerings from St. Luke’s choir, from which most of the Singers come: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
Here’s what The Burnett Sisters did to compensate for a recent cancellation: https://www.facebook.com/search/top/…. They will be livestreaming on June 5th from Ole Smoky Distillery at 8 p.m. Go to Ole Smoky Distillery FB page at that time to click on the livestream. The Sisters have a new CD, Duo, and appear with Collen Ray in a video: https://www.burnettsistersband.com/videos Buy the CD at www.burnettsistersband.com/shop
It would be great, also, to hear some music from The Dollar Brothers and The Junaluska Gospel Choir as the summer rolls along. Please, don’t forget the community groups that we try to help each summer. When you have an opportunity, as you are able, reach out and offer some assistance to these folks:
- Western Watauga Food Outreach
- Cove Creek Elementary School
- Valle Crucis School
- Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center

Baird’s Creek Presbyterian Church is currently collecting
Non-perishable Food for
Western Watauga Food Outreach
http://quietgivers.org/western-watauga-food-project/
The mission of this organization is to enhance the well-being of those who face food insecurity and are located in a food desert. We are aiming to accomplish this by distributing food in the Western side of Watauga County where people do not have the means to access grocery stores or purchase adequate food with proper nutrients.
Suggested donations currently dated, non-perishable food. The most pressing need is:
-
Canned Fruit
Other suggestions include:
- Canned Vegetables
- Canned meats
- Soup
- Peanut Butter
